How did you restart it (command, args)?
Can you verify any dependencies are met (libraries, configs, etc etc)?
Can you retrace your steps and check if any software has been up/downgraded/removed that could affect Apache?
Can you verify the configuration?
Can you start it manually in debug mode and post the results (if unusual)?

i typed in the following command:
init 6

i didnt change any configuration files as far as i remember. How can i start it manuallly ?
as soon as the server is started and when i do a ps -aef | grep WebSphere, i see the java- Xm128ms running, but then after a few seconds that process dies. So i don't know wuts causing it to die. Please help me and thankyou in advance

Try testing it:
http://www7b.software.ibm.com/wsdd/W...rn02280lx.html

If those directions don't work for you, and you're sure you installed IBM's HTTP server, the database, the JDK and any admin processes Websphere needs, and have actually read the docs, then maybe it's best you visit IBM for support. After all Websphere ain't freeware, and IBM actively develops and supports it.
