Question having certain problems with mplayer

there are certain issues that i have with mplayer.
one of them is with the xv driver. it resizes fine, but the subtitles get smudged on the movie (looks pretty weird)
the other driver, x11 shows subs just fine, but i cannot resize it.

does anyone have a solution to any of these probs?

fro x11 you need the -zoom option, not sure about the subtitles one, maybe try using a different default font?
