Question Having a hard time capturing from TV card with mplayer

I think the subject says most of it.

Code:
mencoder -oac mp3lame -ovc lavc -lameopts mode=1:vbr=2:q=4 -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4 -tv driver=v4l:norm=ntsc:input=1:adevice=/dev/dsp2:width=352:height=240 -o tv.avi tv://
When I run that, it appears to work, but when I play back the resulting file, the video runs too fast and the sound is just static. Can anyone offer any insight?

try setting -ofps for the correct speed, as for the sound... possibly the mixer settings, playback volume is nt the same as recording volume. also you are recording from the soundcard line in i take it? afaik mplayer doesn't work with btaudio correctly if at all.

I'll try that.

From the line-in on the tuner card. Hooked up to my cable box with an RCA-to-1/8" cable.

Where did you hear that?

Anyway, I figured out how to capture audio from my soundcard line-in, and that seems to be working.
