Has Anyone played steam via WineX 3.3?

If you have describe your experience here. would you reccommend it?

well personally i have had it installed, but it never went further than that cause i decided to blow out my drive and re-install ... so i never actually tested it ... but to actually get it installed and actually open the steam client i have did that .. just never played ...
but i have seen many get it to work without problems, but i also see many try and fail ...
as of your question "would you recommend it"
well if you really want to play then i recommend it :p
if its no big deal and you don't really wanna play all that much other than the odd time, well i still recommend you try :D

I tried subscribing the Transgaming, but im a minor without a credit card and my mother unfortunately only trusts paypal for online transactions. is the only hope for me waiting for a new CVS version of Wine X to release?

DrOzz 02-18-2004 08:50 PM

why would you wait for a new CVS release ?
go get it now ?

zidane2010 02-18-2004 08:52 PM

its availiable? I ran the GetCVS_pthread. So is my CVSwineX 3.3? i installed Steam on it, and i could get into games, but it wasnt fun at 1/2 a frame per second.

well that probably has something to do with not having your video drivers installed ....
which you need to install to get 3d acceleration ...
so what card do you have ?

ATI radeon 9800 pro driver 3.7.0 i ran in openGL and software, and its really slow. and i ran in Direct3D and it said it aint supported. i get about 4500fps is glxgears and i get like 30fps in steam via wine

zidane2010 02-19-2004 05:53 AM
