has anybody seen this error b4?

fatman synergy: FATAL: CXWindowsScreen.cpp,1312: X display has unexpectedly disconnected

synergy is a program I use to a share single mouse and keyboard

X completely locks up and I cant get to a tty session so maybe the whole OS actually locked up. This error maybe the side effect of a more serious hardware problem. If somebody has had similiar errors with X disconnecting from different programs that would really help me nail things down? This system locks up within a matter if minutes if not hours. I will be lucky if it doesnt lock b4 the end of this post

thanks all for your suggestions.

i also run synergy to connect my linux and windows computers but have never seen this error. Is everything on your system up to date most importantly synergy or XWindows? is the computer that looks up the client or the server? If everything seems up to date i would suggest reinstalling from source. If none of that seems to solve the problem you probably have some type of hardward problem but i cant think of what it might be that is having the problem. Any clicking noises or harddrives spinning when it locks up?
You could try looking here to see if anyone else has the same bug.

Well I had multiple problems after migrating to a faster system including serious problems with hardware. I believe this error may be caused by an overheating graphics card. For some reason the fan stopped spinning after moving the graphics card to another sytem. Locating this sort of problem is most frustrating as occaisonally the fan would spin up also.

Moral of the story maybe when you have problems with X and an old v-card mabe check on your hardware.
