Hard drives are hard indeed
After a glorious battle agains the windeamon and the Wrong_driveSetup daemon, I finally achieved to install Mandrake 8.0, which I then exchanged for Slackware, ( which is nice, simple and kind of uninteresting to substitute Win , but extremely powerfull in everything else). Notice that this was an ancient version and a one CD only version.
Now, I got a new drive, so: I'd like to now how I should partiiton it, to use as a normal user and with a litle spice in it, meaning I want to use everything, just in case. I want to install the FULL Mandrake 8.0, meaning not the version of MAN pages in Polish or greek of course. So, I need some help in how I should partition a 20Gb drive, and how to reformat my smaller drive for Win98 once again, I want to use it as back up for Win. thanks for your help :) |
There have been a lot of posts on the subject, so you might want to search the forums for other opinions (and there are many ;) ), but here's how Drake 8.0 is on my system:
/boot: 32MB /root: ~2GB /home: 3GB /usr: 4GB /var: 512MB /tmp: 512MB <swap>:128MB |
