Hangs during boot
I need a little advice on something that begun happening with my upgrade from SuSE 9.1 Pro to 9.2 Pro. I am using a Compaq Presario laptop with 768m of ram. It happens during the boot process about once out of every five or six times. The computer hangs and requires a hard reset. It gets to the point that says "Restore device permissions" and freezes. I power down, start again and most of the time the computer boots fine. Ocasionally I will have to restart twice. This could happen from a power on start up or with a shutdown and reboot computer. I had 9.1 install and this never happened. Now with 9.2 it happens radomly. I have left the computer at the point of "restoring device permissions" and gone to lunch, came back 45 minutes later and it was still hung, so it is not a matter of waiting long enough. While it is in this state the hard drive light is constantly on and the drive spinning. This install was a simple upgrade of the existing system. I have use the things I know of to try and correct it, like running fsck which always returns with out any errors. I have tried the repair installed system from disk 1, and there are never any problems found. I have used a knoppix cd to boot and it always works. I have run manufacturer diagnostics on the hard drive and it does not find a thing. I'm stumped and am looking for ideas.
On another note. I have noticed when using YOU, YaST or when running the repair from the install disk. The process is constantly stopped to make a screen shot of things. These .png files are stored in /root/yast2-screen-shots. Whatever process is running will not complete unless the save or cancel button is pushed. I would sure like to turn this off, but haven't been able to find out where.
