hang up with rh7.3 installation

ok i've initalized the hard drive and now have my computer booting off the cd as i try to have a fresh red hat 7.3 instal.

however, i keep getting stuck on the "loading scsi driver" window first thing into the instal. initialy it was "loading megaraid driver...." screen that it would say it's doing...but never did anything. i tried mulitple drivers off the floppy drive. nothing worked. it started to read the floppy and then do nothing...or whatever it downloaded had no effect.

since then i have removed the megaraid card and am hooking the hard drive directly to the mother board (w/o use of scsi card). now it does a similar just sits on the "loading scsi driver" window saying "loading aic7xxx driver" instead of megaraid. how can i fix this problem. do i know go and try to find drivers for it instead...or is the problem gonna be the same no matter what drivers i find? any help would be great. thnx

ok after the "loading aic7xxx" screen sits there a while it finally asks do you want to install drivers. this question never was posed when were working off the megaraid this is atleast new. finally it seems to work fine. we actually get to the red hat instal part (keyboard mouse etc) and then i try to partition the drives (auto, fdisk, disk druid). however when i try 2 of the 3 i get this:

"an error has occurred - no valid devices were found on which to create a new filesystems. please check your hardware for the cause of this problem"

this drive worked before...b/c i just reinitialized it. so my only theory is this. that somehow the mother boad...since we are connected directly into the scsi connection on the motherboard.... has something disabled or set werid. the reason being b/c it's use to having the connection through the scsi megaraid card. however, i'm not sure right now how to start checking the motherboard for werid problems or setups. if anyone has run into a similar problem or knows how to go and change the bios or set up on the motherboard during the instal....i would appreciate. thnx

i've got the exact same problem trying to install RH 9.0 on my PERC 2/SC-equipped dell poweredge 2300. unfortunately, the 68-pin hotswap drives won't connect to the motherboard non-raid controller, so i'm fighting the megaraid driver.

dell said to make sure the controller and backplane firmware were current. they were. then they said ' should work.'

that's where i stand. please post/email any resolution you discover.

found out what i needed to do here...basically follow links to go to guys (doug ledford) homepage that has drivers or package that fixed it. seemed they've had problems with this before. i think my solution was under the 5/14/01 update. good luck.
