Smile Hadoop 3.0 environment setup - SSH Configuration

I am currently setting up my Hadoop 3 environment and cannot seem to get the SSH functionality to work. I am using the following tutorial online:

https://hadoop.apache.org/docs/curre...uted_Operation

My current configuration is a Single Node, Pseudo-Distrubuted mode. I am currently stuck at the step where I need to set up a pass-phrase less SSH. I ran the commands listed on the site and the authorized_keys file was created successfully. However when I run the ssh localhost command, I get the following error, even though hadoop is actively running:

Code:
casey87@ixcel87:~/hadoop-3.0.0$ ssh localhost ssh: connect to host localhost port 22: Connection refused
I also attempted to re-install ssh and could not, below are the results of upgrading ssh:

Code:
casey87@ixcel87:~/hadoop-3.0.0$ sudo apt-get upgrade ssh

download failed Oracle JDK 7 is NOT installed. dpkg: error processing package oracle-java7-installer (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: oracle-java7-installer E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Can someone please assist me with the upgrade and the SSH portion of the hadoop install? Below are my specs:

casey87@ixcel87:~/hadoop-3.0.0$ uname -a Linux ixcel87 3.13.0-137-generic #186-Ubuntu SMP Mon Dec 4 19:09:19 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
