gxine mozilla plugin took over shoutcast playlists.
I have gxine installed with the mozilla plugin and it is working like a charm. Every movie on every webpage has played successfully so far.
The problem is, now when i go to shoutcast.com and try to play some music, the gxine plugin takes over and tries to play it. This used to work fine in xmms. Anyone know how to get around this? Can i configure the plugin to not do mp3, or pls files?
THanks
Murray

just ran into the same damn problem, anybody got any solutions?
in the meantime i'm taking a sledge hammer approach, or more specifically, a trojan-horse approach to fixing the problem. i've downloaded the source code of gxine and as we speak i'm recompiling it "as-is"... then i'm going to install it as a checkinstall and then as soon as it's done, i'm going to issue a removepkg
it's a shot in the dark but i want my xmms default back....

well that didn't work, but...
well, that didn't work but the strangest thing occured, even after in did a removepkg, the gxine not only remained, it seems to be working even better....?
well, maybe i'll give it a try out.... it's only fair!

gxine installs the plugin into yur mozilla plugins directory on first start up if i remember correctly (if you want to remove it delete the most likely looking file from ~/.mozilla/plugins, I can't tell you the filename as I don't have gxine installed).
To change the default for shoutcast servers: edit => preferences => Helper applications. find audio/x-scpls in the list of mime types (if not present click add new). Then enter the following details
MIME TYPE: audio/x-scpls
extension: pls
Open it with: /usr/bin/xmms
(uncheck "ask me before handling... " if you don't want to be prompted every you time you try and open a file)

you were dead on the mark and i can't thank you enough, i just had my xmms set up perfectly for it's role and to have an over-zealous gxine trying to rule the world was a bit much. still it would be good to have a graphical interface to regulate all these multimedia clients/plugins better.... that way we can be pick and choose a bit better....
oh well, maybe i'll get around to doing that myself...
cheers & thanks again!
