GUI over ncurses !?!

I have a strange question, here is the background.

I have been using Open Cobol and I really like it. It has ncurses built in and I can do what I need to with very little outside of OC.

However the application I am trying to get off the ground is an open source but for profit venture. I don't know if people will accept something ncurses based. I was thinking I could write it the way I want to and then add on a GUI afterwards.

Is there a way to do this? I know there are several forms of IPC that would work fine if it was straight command line based but with the cursor moving around to different parts of the screen, I am assuming that most will not work. If there was one form of IPC that did work, I could couple it up to GUI code.

Any suggestions would be appreciated-Patrick
