Guest System with Xen
 

hi all,

I installed xen virtual machine on top of RHEL5 server and managed my guests with virt-manager. Accidently my file system corrupt , all my xen guest destroyed.
But I got the image file of my guest machine(server.img).

I reinstalled the xen virt-manager and try to load that particular image file. During this It prompted for a error message which says this is not a valid image file.

How can I recover from this error .Otherwise I have to reinstall the OS.

And sorry, but you're going to have to reinstall. You said it yourself..."my file system corrupt , all my xen guest destroyed". If you're trying to load it and it says it's invalid...that's because it IS. The image is corrupted. So, either reload from backups, or do a fresh install. The thing that would help you most would be to CALL REDHAT SUPPORT, since you're paying for it with your RHEL subscription, right???

tnx for your reply. My root file system only get corrupted. But my xen images placed in different partiton. While the main OS booting it ask for a fsck and load a maintainance window.However I could repair it. After successfully loading I tried to start the guest OS using Virt-Manager.Once I loaded that there is no any more guests and only dom 0 existed. Then I tried to load my image(which located in different partiton:/xen). Then only this error occured.

Spell out your words.

You first said that all of your Xen guests were destroyed...HOW were they destroyed? Which filesystems did you have to fsck, and are you sure you don't have to fsck the /xen partition? Did your system shut down cleanly?? Are the Xen images xen disk images, or xen-lvm's? Have you run testdisk on those images?

And again....call RedHat Support. You are paying for it with your RHEL subscription.
