... so I've gone through the gyrations of obtaining and compiling contemporary versions of libgpod and gtkpod. I can now store video on my iPod by dragging the .mp4 files to the "podcast" group and then selecting copy to iPod option. Video works just fine.
..... but how do I remove video? I've tried to find the .mp4 files on the iPod through the file system and I can't find them. Also, there is no 'remove from iPod' entry in the context menu for the video items. The only options are remove from harddisk and remove from database.
It would be great if I could seperate the videos by type too, like movies, music videos, and podcasts.... but I can't. They all fall into the movies folder on the iPod.
Is there a manual or FAQ on gtkpod? Is there a better choice for moving video onto the iPod?
I'm loving this thing. KTorrent scrubs RSS feeds for material that interests me, I've got perl scripts to convert video, audiobooks, and so on. Maybe it's time to look at writing some perl to maintain the video library on the iPod. It would be great if the shows could be downloaded, converted, and then moved onto the iPod with no interaction at all, except for the initial selecting of the desired content.

I'm having the same issue. running gtkpod, I can't even find the videos in the IPOD. I can see them in the IPOD menu, but they do not work. The links above make no mention of video removal- seems they're only for things which can be seen in gtkpod's file tree. silly monkeys
