It seems like the program isn't finding a function. This is either because the library that gtkpod is trying to use isn't installed, is too old or just not being found. If it has been installed in a non-standard location, or a standard location that just isn't referenced on your particular system, then you need to correct this.
For example, check the contents of /etc/ld.so.conf and see if it contains the line /usr/local/lib - if not, then add it and try running ldconfig as root. Lots of software installs in /usr/local, but not all systems have that in the library path by default.
If that doesn't work, then libgpod probably isn't installed or is too old (which is where the function itdb_device_set_mountpoint is from). Installing it depends on your distribution, since you're using synaptics I would assume Debian or Ubuntu. I'm not familiar with their process...
According to sourceforge the most recent version is 0.4.0, released alongside gtkpod 0.99.8. If the version of gtkpod you installed is 0.99.4 then it should work with libgpod 0.3.2. It's most likely 0.99.4 since this is what the package tracker system says is the most recent.
There's a bug report that suggests the iPod must be mounted first, before starting gtkpod: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=392047
It's hard to say if this bug was corrected in 0.99.8, since Debian maintains its own bug tracking system. At any rate, it's something to consider.
Problems solved. Thank you very much. I found out that the libgpod installed on me is only applicable to the older version of gtkpod. What I did was I downloaded the newest libgpod and compiled it from source. Now, its working. Thanks man... You're the best.
