gtkam error

I cannot get gtkam to read the images from my Canon Powershot 200 camera. The camera is detected properly but gtkam fails to read the file. The error message is "failed to read files from "/": could not lock (or unlock) the device".

Gphoto2 from command line can download the photos, also flphoto but gtkam fails.
Anyone got any idea why?

Haven't tried gthumbs. But, I have now got digikam working & it seems to be superior in every way to gtkam so I will just use it.
Thanks.
