Hello everyone,

I have been facing a problem for the past few weeks related to the gtk2+ Open Dialog Box (ODB). Before I tell you the problem, please note that I have a normal user account (non-root), on a machine running FC3. I use KDE 3.3 and would like to stick to it.

Now the problem is that whenever any application (e.g. Firefox or Thunderbird or Gaim) tries to open the gtk2+ ODB, the application stops responding for a while (about 4-5 minutes) and after that delay the box finally comes up. Again, if I try to change the directory, the application again stops responding for some time.

The strange thing is that applications like Kate and Gimp use different style Open Dialog Boxes, and they work absolutely fine. I can post a link to the screenshot of the gtk2+ ODB that causes trouble, if that might help.

Please tell me how to get rid of that annoying delay. Any input from anyone would be highly appreciated.
