gtk-recordmydesktop with USB Snowball microphone?

CentOS 6.5 x86_64

I have a USB snowball microphone, and I am trying to use it with recordmydesktop.

Supposedly, this can be done by going into advanced setting, and enter "hw:SB" in the Device box. But that is not working for me.

BTW: the microphone works fine with Audacity.

Code:
$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 0: ALC887-VD Analog [ALC887-VD Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 1: ALC887-VD Digital [ALC887-VD Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: HDMI [HDA ATI HDMI], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Wouldn't you know it?

As soon as I post this, I get it to work.

I used my usual method of problem solving which I call "poking it with a stick"

I tried hw:SB, and hw:ALC887-VD, and a few others; noting worked.

I finally guess at hw:Snowball, and that did it.
