gtk perl slack install

hi,

gtk perl 7008 used to compile perfectly on slack8.1 but it wont on slack9. perl Makefile.PL fails saying that gnome-config is absent but it works with perl Makefile.PL --without-guessing. however make still Error 2's on me saying that many .o files are gone. i know that this has been asked a lot and i have searched google and these forums but never found a SOLUTION, just a lot of questions. thx folks
.
