im running slackware 8.1, and needed to install GTK2 to use a plugin i wanted for gkrellm. i found this page that helped me do it for slackware 8.1 specifcally. ( http://linuxtipps.sourceforge.net/sh.../en/faq/77.htm ) however now when i try to make the plugin ( make enable_nls=1 according to the readme) i get this error saying how package gtk+-2.0 was not found in the pgk-config search path. it also tells me maybe i should add the directory containing gtk+-2.0.pc (in /usr/lib/pkgconfig/ in my case) to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable. No package 'gtk+-2.0' found it says. gkrellm2/gkrellm.h: no such file or directory. (this is actually located in /usr/local/include/gkrellm/ in my case). can anybody help me here?
okee, i assume that slack packages run in about the same way as rpm based distros and so you'll need to install the gtk2-devel package aswell, that's the one that conatains the pkg-config information.
as for gkrellm, afaik gkrellm2 is a gtk2 port, and so you will need to upgrade.
im actually running gkrellm now just fine, im running the one based one gtk 1.X .. once i upgrade to gtk2 yes i will probably need gkrellm2 as well. although i could be wrong, it just seems that i have to edit some of the paths of my system variables...but you are telling me to install the dev pack? im not sure how you think that would help but i guess it would not hurt to try, im still open for any more suggestions however
this may be a stupid question because i STILL dont quite get the difference between what xwindows, a window manager and a desktop environment is exactly, but im running enlightenment right now, if i install this with dropline will that effect my current configuration?
