GTK installed but not found

Hi.

Does anybody know how to make GTK available system-wide? I installed it and all packages that come with it, but ./configure can't find it. I know it is in /usr/lib so I added this to PATH.

dpkg-query -S gtk+-2.0
libgtk2.0-dev: /usr/lib/pkgconfig/gtk+-2.0.pc

checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.0.0... no
*** Could not run GTK+ test program, checking why...

*** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK+ is incorrectly installed.

'libgtk2.0-dev' is the package, and it seems OK installed.

The question is : What are you trying to install ?

Source code name and version, please.

It's a source package for a Sega emulator.

Sega Genesis Emulator "Gens", version 2.12a

And it says GTK is not installed, I'm pretty sure it is cause not long ago I installed the NES emulator and required the same software; and I see it installed, along with headers and dev packages.

Thanks.

gens-2.12a-0.20041113.tcousin.src > gens-2.12a

Code:
./configure
.
.
checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.4.0... yes (version 2.22.0)
make : OK with gcc-4.4.1, except gens-2.12a/src/gens/ :
The Makefile was edited to : CC = gcc-3.3
( Any gcc3 will do : gcc-3.3.3, 3.3.6, 3.4.6.)

Will also work : export CC=gcc34 && ./configure && make.

The source ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/ftp.gwdg....cousin.src.rpm
> > gens-2.12a-0.20041113.tcousin.src.rpm : Only eight years old.
( The source you used, is probably much older.)

Hi man.

I downloaded a different version and it passed the GTK+ revision.

Not sure why the other package didn't find it, but hey, this one worked.

Sega Genesis Emulator "Gens" version 2.12a
checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.4.0... yes (version 2.22.0)

Thanks for your time.

Regards from Costa Rica, Rafa.
