I'm trying to install GTK+ 2.2.3 onto my machine, which is running SUSE 8.2 pro. I've installed, atk, pongo, already, and as im running the configure file for gtk, I'm getting the following error.

configure: WARNING: *** PNG loader will not be built (PNG library not found) ***
configure: WARNING: *** PNG loader will not be built (PNG header file not found) ***
configure: error:
*** Checks for PNG loader failed. You can build without it by passing
*** --without-libpng to configure but many programs using GTK+ will
*** not work properly. The PNG loader is also needed if you are compiling
*** from CVS.

ANy help with this would be greatly appreciated....I'm goin through all this to install axyftp onto my machine, I dont' have a GUI FTP program loaded.

Search for the libpng development packages and install them (probably on your distro's CD). Then try to run configure again.
