gtk-1 gtk-3

Problem 1.

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/mintx-colors-gtk-theme_1.0~trusty~Noobslab.com_all.deb: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/themes/Mint-X-Purple/gtk-3.0/settings.ini', which is also in package mint-themes-gtk3 3.10+13

This is the reply I get from Synaptic in Linux Mint 17.3 Mate. Possibly noobslab is putting out an outdated version.

I will remove the offending ppa that's causing the problem.

Problem 2.
If using Compiz the windows title and buttons minimize, maximize and close are missing - + X, even though Windows Decorator is ticked. I've tried typing in the windows director cell both commands gtk-windows-decorator --replace and compiz --replace.

Some web sites say that Emerald in combination could be the problem. On my second computer to date no problem with compiz. In Windows decorator on the 2nd computer I have emerald --replace.

Although this problem has nothing to do with the previous two:
Problem 3 I have. In Compiz, I cannot tick OpenGL, the tick is automatically removed. This also ocurrs when ticking effects that require enabling OpenGL. My Graphics card is an ATI Radeon 3500.

ondo thank you for your reply regarding problem "do GL", please explain. Also what hardware info should I post, and what command line to type in the terminal?

problem 1: that's what you get from using ppas. solve it manually.

problem2 i don't understand at all.

problem3 requires some info about your hardware, esp. if your graphics card and driver "do" GL.

problem1 has NOTHING to do with 2 and 3.

None of the above has anything to do with gtk1.
