Gtalk simulation on linux

has anybody tried to run gtalk on linux. there is thsi software called Jabber jingle and kopete when compiled with jingle support can do voice chats for jabber acounts like google i have donen that. you can find relevant information in here... . I did the entire thing successfully but am facing one problem. I can tak to guys with gtalk in windows with ease but whenever i am trying to talk to guys with jabber jingle / gtalk on linux , whoever is initiating the call his/hers kopete is crashing. any sols

Gaim supports jabber and works just fine with Gtalk. You might want to give it a try.
