GRUB2 doesn't read the right grub.cfg

I have my own custom-built Linux in my USB Flash Drive with GRUB2 as its bootloader. There is another Linux which is installed in my PC in which I'm trying to boot my USB Linux.

The GRUB2 seems to run properly except for one thing and only: it reads the grub.cfg file from my PC main hard drive rather than from my USB drive.

Is there any solution for this? Thank you in advance

You can set your flash drive to first boot priority in the BIOS so it reads that grub.cfg.
You can put an entry in the grub.cfg on the PC hard drive while the flash drive is attached and update-grub.
Posting the distribution(s) you are using would help.

It turns out that my problem is that I did not put the right partition for "/dev/root" when I ran grub-install.
