Grub won't uninstall ><

Hi! i have Ubuntu and Windows on a dual boot.

For some reason my grub loader got corrupted and will not boot. i need my windows data so i uninstalled ubuntu and deleted the partition it was on. no luck. i then booted on a win XP CD and tried FIXMBR and FIXBOOT. still no luck.

Anyone know where grub might be loading from so i can delete it?

If you deleted ubuntu you deleted all the grub you should have to worry about. Your Windows XP should fix the mbr. When you boot your windows disk do the repair option and then try the FIXMBR command and see if that will fix you.

Are you using the windows cd? Your cd drive needs to be first in boot order.

i don't know what you mean, if you mean in order to boot to the CD then yes. thats how i entered fixmbr and fixboot.

anyway i fixed by reinstalling another copy of windows, apperantly that overwrote what was left of grub, though i don't know why fixmbr didn't
