Hi! A while ago I had RedHat Linux 9 on my second harddrive and Windows 2k on my first, each one using it's whole drive. However, I updated my linux to Fedora Core 2, and also upgraded GRUB with the installation.
At first after I installed Fedora I only used Fedora, but now that I try to use Windows it gave the message:
"NTLDR not found"
"press any key to continue..."
So I asked my big brother for some help, and with his help I changed my menu.lst to add two map commands, so now it looks like this:
grab either the windows 2000 server or windows 2000 pro boot disk which ever is your version of windows 2k.
if you have another windows computer, you can use that computer to download the bootdisk contents from that site and put it on a floppy disk. if you don't, then boot into linux and download the boot disk contents from that site and copy it to a floppy disk.
reboot your computer with the floppy disk in there and copy the ntldr file into your c:\ drive. reboot your computer (take out the floppy) to see if it will boot up into windows.
Chucking the install cd in the drive and hitting R to get to the recovery console might be all that's required. If you can do that, try typing "fixmbr" without quotes and rebooting. You should get Windows. If so, you can reinstall grub and you should actually have it work this time. I don't know how Windows boots with such a fragile bootloader, honestly.
I fixed it. Its actually a bad bug in the Fedora Core 2 installation. To fix it I had to rewrite some chunk of data that it broke using the following command:
