GRUB Problem...
Hey Guys, I've just tried getting rid of grub (long story...won't go into that at the moment) and I've tried to install Lilo, but that hasn't worked and i really need to get into windows ASAP. So i've booted off a windows boot disk and typed 'fdisk /mbr' which should install the windows boot loader into the MBR (thats how desperate i am atm, resorting to windows boot loader :(). Anyway, when i reboot, I get an error when it tries to boot windows an error displays saying "GRUB Hard Disk Error"
Now my question is, WTF?! Why is grub still there, even after being overwritten by LILO, then by Windows default boot loader...why won't it go away and let me boot windows?!! ARGH! Anybody got any idea's? How and why would Grub still exist if i over-rid it? Thanks. Hopefully somebody can reply ASAP. |
try ranish's part.exe at: http://www.ranish.com/part/
its a rather useful little program for disk partitioning and mbr resetting. It includes its own boot loader, that works sufficiently well. This is a good little tool to keep on your dos rescue floppy |
