Grub over lilo (Changing distro)
Hi There,

Greetings from hot Finland (almost +30 Celcius)

I have decided to change my current distro (Mandriva 2005 a.k.a 10.2) to Red Hat / Fedora 3.
so that rises some concerns to me.

My current system includes Window$ XP with LILO, and new Fedora uses GRUB as boot loader. Also my intent is to sweep old distro and replace it with new one. I hope that Fedora's installer can do that during installation phase (during partitioning) - I hope

But my biggest concern is LILO-GRUB change, Do I have to first somehow remove LILO and after that install Fedora with GRub, or is fedora's installer capable of replacing LILO with GRUB automagically

So I try to change distro without saving anything (OK, I take some backups to CD)

Is there anything I need to take in consideration?

Thank's in advance.

PS Sorry if this issue was already covered here, but my subject search did not reveal anything special

Hot, it's 37 Celcius here.. ;)

If your installling Fedora, using the Grub should and can overwrite your existing Lilo bootloader with no problems..

lol its 42.7Celcius here. but yea hes right grub will overight the boot loader for you as long as the boot loader was in the MBR of the first disk.
