I removed all BSD slices but it still messed it up a bit.

The unused space is about 0.25MB - I didn't care about it but I thought it might be a problem.

But I did something, now cfdisk won't run, I can't remember the error, but fdisk works OK.

Fixed it.

I just backed up all of my data (this was difficult) and eventually I managed to start from scratch.

Good News..How did you re-create your partitions?? Using fdisk??

Yeah, I created them all using Windows 98 fdisk and formatted them as FAT32 as the majority of my partitions are FAT32. I then prepared and formatted the Linux and Linux Swap partitions with Linux fdisk.

I also decided to open up and clean my computer, but doing this, my 128MB memory module died, I am now left with a mere 64MB.

Hey, I fixed it, and improved it, now I have 256MB RAM.

Aha, goes to show I should read up on things before I try them. I have a feeling I was trying to install FreeBSD on a logical partition - possibly why things went quite wrong...
