while you are waiting for a better reply

run knoppix and see if your linix looks ok....especially the files in /boot/grub and the menu.lst file
You don't mention any error number......
I am hoping grub is in mbr but can not find one or more booting files due to a syntax error

check my trouble shooter it may help

I don't use your distro
