GRUB error

Hi,

I had taken backup of my Thin Client Linux OS from 2 GB DOM through dd command.

Now I am restoring the backup image to new 2 GB DOM & when I try to boot this new DOM it is giving GRUB GRUB GRUB .... message ( the full screen is filled with GRUB word).

Please suggest how to overcome this error ?

Ravi

To take the backup I had given the following command :

dd if=/dev/sda1 of=/mnt/sdb1/backup

Here sda1 is my 2 GB DOM device & I am taking backup in another secondary hard disk.
I have booted the system through Puppy Linux Live CD.

To restore I have used the following command :

dd if=/mnt/sdb1/backup of=/dev/sda1

No idea really but it might be tempting to boot the thing from a live CD and then reinstall grub. Don't blame me if this buggers anything.

No blame at all. since, I just do my trials just in case something happened in the future.
I doubt the reason might be the recovery into another hard disk.

as u said reinstalling the grub might be a solution but haven't tried it yet.

Thx for ur comment.
