Unhappy Grub device map needed for promise raid

Hello, I've run into a snag. My Grub boot floppy with the raid device map has busted.

I've got a 80G Raid0 array on a promise20276 controller.

I've got a custom gentoo kernel I built on another machine installed because of the raid issues and a few windows OS's.

To get grub setup, in gentoo I created the device map so the grub could find the raid paritions. I also created a grub boot floppy in which I was able to boot to linux.

Everything was great for a few days!!!!!

As expected, windows overwrote the MBR, which is fine because I could boot into lin with the grub floppy. Before I had a chance to reinstall Grub to the Raid's MBR, the floppy died.

Without the raid - the problem would be simple, I could just boot off a linux cd. But now?

Anyone have any ideas?

if anything about the description of my problem is confusing please ask and I'll clarify.
