Hi, i'm using suse10.1 on a laptop with dual boot to XP.
I gave the command to restart to windows while in suse, and something went wrong, it took 5min and nothing happened.
So i then opened a terminal, logged in as root, and did shutdown -r now
And now, Grub is stuck in booting windows, i want it to stop auto booting windows and give me the choice again....
What can I do, can i used the suse rescue CD somehow, or any of my LIVE CD distros?
i have gained root access to my file system via the Ubuntu live DVD, just someone please tell me what file I have to edit to not have Grub skip its menu.
You could use the 10.1 disk, clik install. Go through the "finding hardware/ inspecting your system part", the approval of the contract part, next screen don't pick new install, go for the button on the lower right and choose "repair installed system". from the drop down box that pops up.
You will get the repair screen, click "automatc". At the end it will get to Grub and ask you if you want it to reinstall Grub. Agree, and when that's done, reboot and it should be fixed.
Actually for the 7th rebooting, i was rebooting to try that advice, and somehow before i hit the select bood media via my bios, it loaded from the HDD - and grub was back to normal, no idea... but i'm happy
