Grip not acutally ripping
I've been trying to rip CD's with KAudioCreator and K3b, and they both give me errors. I thought I'd give Grip a try. It doesn't give me error messages but it doesn't rip anything either! It acts like it, but it goes really super fast and all that I have when it's done is the directories my ogg's are supposed to be in, but alas! no oggs! What the heck is wrong! (If it helps I use SCSI emulation and can play and burn CD's fine.)

When I got fed up trying to get what I wanted from the 3 apps you named, I d/l'd Sonic Rainbow and 2 small libs, and haven't looked back. The others are coming off the system tonight.

Thanks, but i'm tired of downloading more crap. (56k man.) In any case, I got it to work with root, but obviously, i want it to work with regular user. Suggestions?

I have the same problem with Grip, except I am trying to rip to mp3. I have not used other ripping programs. How did you get it to work with root?
FYI, I use Slackware 10, and have an external cd-burner (/dev/sr0) that I think uses scsi emulation. I also can play and burn cd's just fine. |
What are the permissions on the 'grip' file? I had a similar problem a while back. I made a copy of the grip file, made myself owner, and it all worked after that. I also noticed that I had problems using a drive that I had made scsi through the lilo 'append' command.
