Graphics Acceleration Settings Not Holding

Hello again, I have just installed Simcity 3000 Unlimited. This install perfectly and all that. I attempted to play the game and I was unable (forgot to turn on the 3d accerlation). With that noted I go to turn on the 3d accerlation and I test and save it and finalize it. Now in all logic you think that would save it right? Well no such luck. I have the offical Nvidia driver installed (manually of course). I restart the computer to see if the settings have taken and they still ask me to tick the box to initialize the accerlation. Is there something that I am missing or can I turn the accerlation on by editing a conf file? Thanks again. Cheers.
