gpm-root can't be run from bashrc?

Hello!

It would seem I have run into another jiffy here... I've put /usr/bin/gpm-root command into a file, sourced from /etc/bashrc, and it would seem it doesn't get run at all, or it doesn't really hold...

when I source bashrc again, it works.

Anyone know why this is happening?

gpm-root is a daemon that has to be run on every tty to enable console mouse menus. I want it to run every time I login so I don't have to remember to run it each time I log in to a new tty.

Anyone have any idea of what might be wrong?

Try moving the sourcing statment to /etc/profile. If memory serves, that's the one for logging in.

Works perfectly. I wonder why the bashrc file states that this file is to be sourced by all *interactive* shells...

Sorry, I don't remember. I'm sure it's in the "FM's" somewhere. And eventually I will re-read the one that I remembered (vaguely) to make my suggestion. I think the answer to your "why" lies in the definition of an "*interactive* shell".

At least your immediate problem is solved.
