Got the gxine / totem blues....

getting this error from gxine and totem....

Code:
perry@slackware:~$ gxine
server: trying to connect to already running instance of gxine (/home/perry/.gxine/socket)...
connect: Connection refused
server: socket '/home/perry/.gxine/socket' created
/usr/share/themes/Nuvola/gtk-2.0/iconrc:23: Unable to locate image file in pixmap_path: "stock_stock.svg"
/usr/share/themes/Nuvola/gtk-2.0/iconrc:54: Unable to locate image file in pixmap_path: "stock_ok.svg"
libgnomevfs.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
The program 'gxine' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 85 error_code 11 request_code 140 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
ran totem successfully on a movie clip, tried to play a mov file, it rejected it, so i switched to gxine, it blew up before it got a chance... another program, xine ran actually but showed no picture (for another mpg, it couldn't touch the mov)

so.... what's going on!

i'm running slackware 10 and was delighted to see totem and gxine playing some wmv and mov formats so running into this problem is a bit wierd, currently only a reboot seems to solve the problem... but i'll test to see if i just need to restart x-windows instead....

still if anyone knows whats going on, i'd really appreciate the help

thanks

It gets a connection-refused message, which is probably causing it to fail.
The reason is indicated as:
trying to connect to already running instance of gxine (/home/perry/.gxine/socket)...

If there is really another instance running - stop it or kill it:
ps aux | grep gxine will give you the pid of the instance(s) running
then kill it with:
kill -9 PID

or use " killall gxine "

If it is not running - try to remove the socket-file as this may be the reason for not starting a new instance of the program

For a very good player: use MPlayer ( http://www.mplayerhq.hu ) - preferrably compiled on your system to match the programs capabilities best to the hardware you have...
