Question gost image caused by mouse


while in kde on my desktop, if i use my mouse to select a group of icons, the "box" that the mouse draws remains visable even after the selection has been made. this is gettig so anoying. but i guess it is good cause when i'm in zombie mode at 4 in the morning i can make perty pictures. thanks for any help you can provide.
