GoogleEarthLinux is flashy at times and the tools window doesn't fix steadily

Help please...GoogleEarthLinux is flashy at times and the tools window doesn't fix steadily. I have the most up-to-date nVidia driver that was installed prior to making my machine go Ubuntu Linux 9.04, and when I use the Linux version of GoogleEarth, the windows that come up for settings and configuration don't provide a steady GUI. It's sketchy at best.
