Hello and Welcome to LQ!
Don't start it using terminal is all I have for you.

How was it installed?
What version?
From where was it installed?

Please don't make us beat info out of you.
Be precise and informative about your problem.

There's nothing wrong with starting Chrome from a terminal. Why would there be? I suspect you are hitting this issue

https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium...tail?id=508458

Perhaps you have two copies of chrome running.
