Google earth hangs when loading

I don't know why, but I tried running it for OpenSuse 10.2 a while ago, and remember that I had this problem. Now I am under PCLinuxOS 2007, and when I type googleearth, all I get is the launch screen and it stays there until I close it (And the program never starts obviously)... Any idea?

I had such a problem on AMD64 until I updated to Xorg 7.3

It always worked OK on the 32-bit OS

When I had problems, I was using fglrx drivers. I have since gotten a new system with nvidia cards. I never had a problem with the 32-bit version, even using fglrx ... only on the AMD64.

I know google earth looks for the Bitstream Vera fonts font type when loading, which isn't native to Linux. It kicks up a warning before switching to system default. Just thought I would mention it, as it's a common error on Linux.
