Google Chrome Review
 
I just decided to try out Chrome for the first time. I'll have to say that it's working exceptionally well. I'm using the 64 bit Fedora version and it seems to respond faster, load pages faster and just seems snappier than Linux Firefox. It's odd because Windows Firefox is just as snappy and responsive, but in Linux Firefox has always seemed a little more "sluggish" to me. Another cool thing is that it picked up and used my Mozilla plugins like flash and java out of the box so I didn't have to go mucking with moving .so files around or finding special versions for Chrome. Flash is still touchy, I'm using Adobe's 64 bit flash and it seems to really bog my system down if I try to use interactive flash applets. Youtube works fine, but some other things don't, but I had this same problem with Firefox. I'm using Chrome BETA 5.0.342.7. What do you guys think of Chrome? Think it may start coming standard with newer distros?

Seriously on my tiny netbook with 1024x600 resolution and crappy processor, GC runs like a dream. I love the intuitiveness of the UI, the lack of dependencies...

I don't even have Firefox or Konq on my Arch minimal-KDEmod install. Google Chrome = all that's needed.

Couldn't; and wouldn't ever go back. It's a browser that makes me want to browse. Never had a problem with it, and flash runs like butter.

Make a shortcut with this;

I'm not a fan. It uses more memory than Firefox, and doesn't seem to perform any better at all. It really is a pretty nice browser, but lacks some features that I've become somewhat dependent on over the years which makes it difficult for me to use. It also has more problems rendering some (probably poorly designed) web pages than Firefox, and it seems to have quite a few bugs to work out. It's still beta, so I would expect as much. It's a nice project, and I'm sure it will get better and the bugs will be ironed out sooner than later, but in its current state I just don't care for it.
