google-chrome = chromium or?
Does anyone know of any differences between chromium-browser and google-chrome other than name?

Chromium is basis on which Chrome is built. Usually Chromium is one-step-ahead of Chrome. Though, it has some differences.
For example, it does not have auto-update feature, AFAIK. Also, I could not make "tab" feature working which allows you to search particular site right from address bar.

Thanks. BTW, I'm considering taking the chromium sources then release my own browser called:
manutm-chrome, the web browser from manutm - Fast, easy, safe, ...
Hmmm, I'm afraid google is less and less what it used to be.

Chromium is OSS project, so you can do whatever you want to with source code. Create your own browser if you need to.

You can create your own Operating System too, because all the sources are open. Just a little work to get you a fame! 8-)
