Question Good web interface to mailing list?

Hello

I'd like to set up a web interface to a mailing list to provide an easier access to it, similar to a web-based forum à la PhpBB, etc.

Is there an open-source solution you would recommend?

Thank you.

Generally this means that you need to provide more information. See my signature for reasons why you probably didn't get a reply.

It seemed to be clear enough, but maybe not.

What you want to do is not clear, and I also suspect it will turn out to be much more complex than you think it is.

Do you want to display the contents of a mailing list on a website, do you want entries on the website to be piped to a mailing list as if they were emails, or do you want a combination of the two: a website that dynamically updates a mailing list even as the mailing list updates the website?

Would Google or Yahoo Groups be a good analogy for what you want?

My LUG recently--well, within a year or two--ditched its mailing list for a PhpBB forum. Our Fearless Leader, who is a Linux adept, concluded that that was the best option in today's environment. A user can choose to be notified of new forum posts via email, but the old mailing list is dead.

Actually, I was thinking of Nabble or Gmane, which, although not as feature-rich as web-based forums, are good enough for most users.

It looks like there's no open-source alternative to hosting one's mailing list to those services.

Yes, there is another open source option.
http://www.gnu.org/software/mailman/

* Purchase hosting services.
* Install and configure email services
* Set up spam filtering for email
* Set up anti virus email scanner
* Set up web mail
* Install mailman mailing list.

I have done this and it was no simple task and is time consuming.

You still have not said what you plan to use this mailing list for. A company? A small organization? You also have not stated if you want to do it yourself or if you want it hosted.

Answering those questions will allow you to receive more focused answers in turn.
