Good wav2mp3 encoder for linux?

Anyone out there know of a good .wav to .mp3 converter/encoder for linux? I got 18 .wav files sucking up hard drive space. And my perfered compressed audio format is .mp3.

I would strongly suggest turning those .wavs into .ogg, but if MP3 is the way to go, I think most distro's come with mpg123, which can do the wav - MP3 conversion.

slight

Yes, that's what I do whenever I get my hands on wav or flac:
Code:

oggenc -b 320 *.flac *.wav
and you are done and the quality is great.
