Good preconfigured video editing disto / software?
Hi guys,
Some friends and I are looking to use Linux to do some relatively basic video editing.
1) What video editing software would you recommend? (preferably something that's currently maintained and stable)
from what I understand there is Openshot, Kdenlive and a few others - I don't have any hands on experience with any of these though.
Personally I use Slackware but to be honest I don't have the time or patience to faff around researching, installing and configuring all the correct codecs / dependencies / etc which would be required.
My friend was using Ubuntu to try out Kdenlive, however due to some auto update thing the ffmpeg package was removed and replaced with the libavcodec fork, which broke kdenlive. Ideally I would like to avoid having to deal with stuff like this....
which brings me to my second question
2) Are there any preconfigured distros / live CDs out there which aim to provide a "plug-and-play" video / audio / multimedia editing / production environment?
Maybe something like PC-BSD which I understand includes a package management system which, for each package, includes all dependencies required for the package, thus eliminating the whole dependency thing?
Ideally I would like to find a solution which I can easily set up for / refer friends to, where the end user doesn't need to spend days of their time configuring / installing everything
Chairs for any advice!!!
