Good linux chinese language language program?

I need a program that allows you to write Chinese to the internet for Suse linux 10.3. In xp they have that option in the control panel. Does linux have these options built in, or is there a good linux compatible program on the internet? One that is virus safe?

I've heard Google Pingying mentioned as a possible application I could use.

Thanks
