...and in addition to that criteria for any "good" forum software will be software that is 0) supported and maintained, 1) the most recent stable version, 2) not having any vulnerabilities in the software itself or any add-ons or plugins, 3) that does not expose any services or management features to the outside world in an unrestricted way, 4) does not rely on weakening settings (wrt security) in the interpreter.
Probably superfluous but I'll say it anyway: 0) what you log is what you (can) get alerted about, 1) running any web-based management panel is no substitute for practical knowledge, and putting a server on the 'net without prior and proper hardening is a bad thing.
