Good alternative to kopete and gaim ?

Hello,

I am looking for a good alternative to kopete and gaim.

I find gaim not the right one, and kopete is not my friend either (too slow). I would like to try another multi-account one ?

thanks by advance if you know one ...

Take a look at Pidgin.

I've never had any problems with Kopete, though, but you may be using it for different things than I am.

Just to mention another one: AMSN is a MSN messenger compatible with webcam and 'nuke' support: www.amsn-project.net

It is not multi-protocol though.

btw isnt Pidgin, the old gaim? I thought that the name changed...

a check in my repos: it says no. I am surprised that I never tried it yet. I thought that there was only gaim and kopete... Interesting ...

the kopete is pretty laggy with the webcam, whereas skype with webcam works very very well (except the sound)
