Good *free* backup/image software
Hi, I am looking for a free backup utility for linux. I want to upgrade my debian from XFree86 to X.org, and don't want to have to reinstall everything if it goes bang. I have Ubuntu on a live CD, so that should make it easier.
Anybody got any knowledge of good backup software

I am using KDar
It makes image files to burn on CD/DVDs (automatically splits it to the correct filesizes)
workes like a charm!

yeah! the script I remember seeing that tar-gzips the entire file structure, breaks it up into a bunch of .part files, and burns them on cd with cdrecord.

You might look into ghost for linux (g4l). I've used it several times with no problems.
Google "ghost for linux"
